Course Synopsis:
The Higher Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management is tailored for individuals looking to build essential knowledge and skills in hospitality and tourism, laying the groundwork for a managerial career in these industries. Through a blend of theoretical and practical learning, this course prepares students to excel in various roles by providing insight into the complex operations and customer-centric nature of the hospitality sector.
Course Objectives:

Course Structure
This 15-month (full-time) program is structured with:
- Mode of Delivery: Blended learning (face-to-face & online)
- Class Size: Maximum of 60 students per class
- Total Contact Hours: 900 hours
- Attendance Requirement: 90% for international students with a student pass, 75% for local students
- Assessment Methods: Assignment and presentation
Full-Time Structure: 9 months of classroom learning followed by 6 months of industrial attachment.
Part-Time Structure: 12 months of classroom learning followed by 6 months of industrial attachment.
Entry Requirements:
- Minimum Age: 17 years for both local and international students
- Academic Qualifications:
- Local students: 2 GCE ‘A’ Level credits or equivalent
- International students: Completion of 12 years of formal education or equivalent
- Mature students: Minimum 30 years old with at least 8 years of relevant experience, considered on an individual basis.
- English Proficiency:
- Local: GCE ‘O’ Level English grade C6 or equivalent
- International: Passed English in grade 10 or equivalent

- Academic and Research Skills – Enhances research and academic writing abilities, covering reading strategies, referencing, and proposal crafting.
- Business Communication – Builds effective business communication skills for diverse workplace scenarios.
- Economics – Provides an understanding of economic principles and their impact on businesses.
- Human Resource Management – Introduces human resource theory and practice within organizations.
- Financial Decision Making – Develops skills to make informed financial decisions impacting company operations.
- Retail Management – Covers basic retail operations, including physical and online store management.
- Rooms Division Management – Focuses on managing front office and housekeeping in hospitality.
- Food and Beverage Operations – Provides hands-on skills in food and beverage service, including barista basics.
- MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) Management – Explores event management within the tourism and hospitality industries.
- Tourism Management – Examines the evolution and structure of the tourism industry.
- Industrial Attachment – A compulsory 6-month internship for hands-on experience; if unavailable, a Project Work module will replace it.
